William Roberts, (born in 1977) better known as Rick Ross is a rapper from Carol City, Florida. He took his name from Freeway Rick Ross, a LA drug boss who had one of the biggest narco distribution network back in the '80s - '90s. His records are under the Slip-N-Slide label, which as of 2006 works with Def Jam Records.
Rick Ross' first album "Port of Miami" was released on August 8, 2006. The main single "Hustlin'" went to #7 on the charts and #54 on Billboard Hot 100.
Ross says that his rap mentors are Ice Cube, JT Money, Trick Daddy, and The Notorious B.I.G
